Adapting to a New Diet During Dog Domestication: How Dogs Coped with the Agricultural Revolution

Dr. Erik Axelsson

The lecture describes analyses of genetic changes underlying adaptations during dog domestication and how these analyses revealed that dogs underwent a shift from a protein to more starch-rich diet. It describes in detail how dogs have changed to handle this new diet and in what way the diet shift may have been associated with the domestication process and agricultural revolution, respectively.
